artist's statement
Many of my pictures are city pictures. I try to capture some of the pleasurable surprise a walker who keeps his eyes open finds in any city: turn a corner, look up, down, or in the next shop window and you often find yourself face to face with unexpected feeling, color, drama, imagination, beauty, or humor.
Wherever I go—city, country, or suburbs—carrying a camera helps me see, remember what I've seen, share what I see with others. Admiring and respecting what is actually out there in the world, I limit my manipulation of the images to cropping and small adjustments in exposure.
